Summary

Business Intelligence is reporting that arrives ready to use: the charts already exist, built for delivery operations and running on the shipment and carrier data already connected in Perform.AI. You start from a template, build a report from scratch, or describe the report you want and AI Report Builder assembles it.

Who it’s for

Logistics teams who spend two days preparing a carrier review, customer service teams whose report never gets built, and leadership who want a monthly view without asking anyone. Finance uses the same reports to put what a carrier charged beside how it performed.

Key benefits

  • No blank page. Templates for carrier performance, SLA compliance, transit time, issues, notifications, returns and cost are in your report list from the first day.
  • The answer arrives in the shape of the question. The library covers time series, splits by carrier, region and shipping phase, scorecards that carry the change beside the number, conditionally formatted tables and country heatmaps.
  • Compare side by side. Each chart can carry its own filters, independent of the report, so two periods or two carriers sit next to each other in one report.
  • Transit time measured your way. Any transit time chart can be measured between whichever two milestones you choose.
  • Shared without the portal. Reports go out by link or as an email snapshot, in your own branding when your organisation is whitelabelled.

How it works

Three ways to create a report

There is no limit to the number of reports.

Templates

Templates and charts matching your subscription appear automatically. The Performance Aspirations template and charts stay empty until you have active rules in Performance Aspirations; the cost charts need the Logistics subscription; the returns charts need Returns.

The chart library

The library holds 89 charts in 12 chart groups. Chart types include distributions over time, splits by carrier, region and shipping phase, table views, scorecards with the change against the previous period, multi-metric tables with conditional formatting, and geographical heatmaps. Heatmaps shade each destination country by on-time rate, issue rate or average transit time, with a colour scale in the metric’s own unit; they show country-level results only. Every chart has variants (for instance by carrier, by status, or as a table); selecting a chart in the picker shows its description and lists its variants, and the picker search matches chart and variant names. Customers cannot build new chart types. Charts not enabled for your organisation show a restricted access visual; contact your account team to have them enabled.

Working with charts

  • Arrange. Drag charts by the six-dot handle, resize from the bottom-right corner, and click a chart name to rename it.
  • Drill down. Click a segment to see its breakdown.
  • Display. A Display button beside each chart switches between the chart and a data table of the same numbers, and hides the legend. These settings only change your current view and reset when you switch variant or leave the report. Tables, scorecards and status matrix charts have no Display button.
  • Zoom. Drag across a chart with many categories to zoom into a section; Reset zoom returns to the full range.
  • Export. From the chart menu, Export as image downloads a PNG of exactly the current view (zoom and drill-down included) and Export as data (CSV) downloads the chart’s full data regardless of the view. Both are greyed out while a chart is loading or has no data.

Filters

Report-level filters sit at the top of each report and apply to every chart: a date range with day, week or month view, carrier, destination country, status and further dimensions depending on your data. Filters you select are saved and remain applied when you return to the report. Chart-level filters. Open a chart’s menu, select Edit chart and choose Custom filters to give that chart its own filters. The chart shows a filter icon (hover it to see the filters applied) and stops following report-level filter changes. Use it to compare two date ranges, two carriers or two regions side by side.

Custom transit time

On a standard transit time chart, Edit chart lets you pick the Transit time from and Transit time to milestones: order placed, pick up, first shipping, out for delivery, first attempt, delivery, plus any custom milestones configured for your organisation. Days are calculated in local time, hours in UTC. Shipments missing either milestone are left out of the calculation.

Sharing

For whitelabelled organisations, report emails use the organisation’s email branding (sender address, header logo and link, header colour, button colours, outreach message), and charts use the organisation’s chart colour palette. Charts that use colour to convey meaning, such as red for breached and green for compliant, keep the standard status colours. Each user can switch the portal, charts included, between light and dark mode from their profile.

Reports list

Reports are shown as tiles with name, description and last modified date. Search by name or description, and drag the six-dot handle to reorder. More > Delete Report removes a report after confirmation.

Error states

Set up in the portal

Go to AI Decision Intelligence > Business Intelligence.
  1. Select Choose from Template, search the library, open a template to read its description and chart list, and create the report.
  2. Or select Create Report, enter a name and description, then Add Chart to pick charts from the library.
  3. Set the report-level date range and filters at the top of the report.
  4. To compare segments in one report, open a chart’s menu, select Edit chart > Custom filters, set the chart’s own filters and save.
  5. To measure transit time between your own milestones, open a transit time chart’s menu, select Edit chart, choose Transit time from and Transit time to, and save.
  6. To share, use More > Get Shareable Link, or More > Send report to email with recipients, a subject and a message.
Set up the view you want, filters and chart views included, before you send a report by email. The email captures the report exactly as you see it.

Use via API and MCP

Reports and charts are not exposed through the API. Through MCP, the tools get_shipment_filter_values, get_booking_metrics and get_invoice_stats answer aggregate questions about your shipments, bookings and invoices from your own AI assistant. See MCP tools.

FAQ

What’s the difference between a template and a report from scratch?

A template gives you pre-configured charts and filters to start from; a blank report gives you full control over which charts to add. A report created from a template is fully editable, and your changes never affect the template.

Can I compare two periods in one report?

Yes. Give two charts their own custom filters, one per period, and place them side by side. Charts with custom filters ignore report-level filter changes.

Can I schedule a report to be emailed regularly?

Not currently. Send report to email is a one-off send of the report as you are viewing it.

Can I send just one chart?

The email always carries the whole report. To share a single chart, use Export as image or Export as data (CSV) from the chart’s menu.

Why can’t I see certain charts?

Charts and templates are enabled per organisation and per subscription. A restricted access visual means the chart is not enabled for you; contact your account team. If they have access to Business Intelligence, the report is added to their own reports list. Users in several organisations are asked which one to add it to.
