Summary
Sources, with its companion Citations tab, shows which sources and pages AI assistants draw on when they answer questions about your category, who owns those sources, what the assistants quote from them, and what to do next. The Sources tab works at domain level; the Citations tab lists every cited page, ranks the pages by how much each is worth working on, and opens a content draft for the pages you can act on.Who it’s for
Brand marketing leads and anyone responsible for how the brand appears in AI answers, with SEO, digital and e-commerce managers who need a content and outreach plan. Brands can already see that AI assistants mention them; these tabs show why, and which sources to work on.Key benefits
- You see which sources shape the answers. One row per cited source, with its type, who owns it, how often it is cited and which AI assistants cite it.
- You see your share of mentions. Share of Voice compares your brand’s mentions with your tracked competitors’ across all cited content.
- You see the exact phrases. The source detail lists the top cited pages with the phrases the assistants quoted and the prompts that led there.
- Pages are ranked by what is worth doing. The Citations tab gives every page a prioritisation, an access level and a suggested action: content, outreach or monitor.
- You can act in the same session. Create content on a source or Generate content on a page opens the content flow with the citation already selected.
How it works
What counts
Both tabs analyse only prompts in the Product, Brand and Merchant prompt categories. A citation is an AI answer that draws on a source for a category or brand question. The page filters, product category, date range (last 30 days, 3 months or 6 months), market, personas and AI models, apply to every chart and table on the tab. Search narrows the table only.Classification
Sources are classified by ownership using your account’s domain configuration.
If your Owned and Competitor domains are not configured, every source shows as Public.
Sources tab
Dashboard cards
The Classification and Source type cards count domains, not citation volume. Share of Voice counts mentions, not prompts: one response can mention several brands. For example, with 50 mentions for your brand, 30 for one competitor and 30 for another, your share is 50 of 110, or 45%. The chart names only the top four competitors; everyone else is grouped as Others and the percentages still add up to 100%.
Source table
One row per cited source: rank, source, source type, classification, citation coverage, the AI models that cite it, and last updated. Searchable, sortable by source, citation coverage or last updated, with 10, 25 or 50 rows per page. Every metric has a tooltip.
Source detail
Selecting a row opens a panel with the source name, domain, category and ownership badge; five summary tiles (total citations, citation share, prompt responses with trend, unique citations, models); the top five cited pages, each with its sentiment badge, how often it is cited, the exact phrases the assistants quoted, and prompt chips that open the Prompts page; and, on sources that are a good fit for content, a Create content action. View all citations opens the Citations tab filtered to that source.
Citations tab
The Citations tab goes one level below Sources and lists every page the assistants cite in the category.- Volume row. Unique prompts, prompt responses, citations, and citations per prompt response.
- Mention share. Your brand against its top four competitors, by citations naming each one. Your bar is labelled (You).
- Positioning. How prominently your brand is placed on the cited pages: Strong, Fair, Weak or Not mentioned.
- Sentiment. A donut weighted by citations with the average in the centre. Pages that do not mention your brand are their own slice and are never counted as Neutral.
The table opens sorted by Prioritization; every column is sortable, with 10, 25 or 50 rows per page.
Access describes how easily you can get your content onto the source: Direct for owned sources, Easy for public sources that take contributions, Hard for public sources that do not, Not possible for competitor sources. Positioning is for display only and does not feed Prioritization.
Cited page detail
Selecting a row opens a panel with the recommended action and a Generate content button where you can act; the citation details, including positioning and access; the prompts citing the page with the AI models that cited it, each linking to the Prompts page; and every tracked brand’s positioning on the page, expandable to the passages the assistants lifted from it. If a content brief is already in progress for the topic, the panel shows its status instead of the button.
